Job description

A client within the Public Sector based in Hampshire is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Surveyor to join their Property Services Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a housing repairs and maintenance environment.

The Role

To deliver an effective and efficient Repairs & Maintenance service, carrying out pre- and post-inspections, technical surveys, and providing detailed reports to support responsive repairs, voids, cyclical works and complex building issues. The role will ensure works are delivered to quality standards, within budget, and in line with statutory and health & safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out diagnostic inspections, surveys and preparing technical reports for responsive repairs, voids and major/complex works.
  • Managing contractor performance, ensuring works are delivered to quality standards, on time, and achieving value for money.
  • Leading on legal disrepair cases and Environmental Health Orders, providing detailed reports and overseeing remedial works.
  • Managing insurance claims including inspections, decants, and liaison with loss adjusters.
  • Coordinating void property inspections to minimise rental loss and ensuring works meet lettable standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation, asbestos regulations, and CDM requirements.
Candidate Requirements
  • Diploma in Surveying, Property and Maintenance Level 3
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS or CIOB)
  • Strong knowledge of building construction, building standards, planning regulations and asset management legislation
Helpful Skills
  • Experience working in Repairs & Maintenance within a housing association or local authority
  • Strong financial awareness and ability to monitor and challenge contractor spend
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write detailed technical reports

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £35 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £25 per hour PAYE).
