In the UK, Guardian is continually looking for talented individuals to help it continue their growth and presence in the regional market. AllUKmanufacturing is based on site from the plant in Goole, East Yorkshire, which has recently made a significant investment in a new furnace that uses advanced technology and will secure glass manufacture at the site for the next 20 years. The plant can produce some of the most advanced and innovative energy-saving architectural glass on the market today. The plant is a lower-tier COMAH site operating a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Shift Manager responsible for leading a high-performing team. The successful candidate will support engineering and operations functions to improve the site’s reliability and equipment availability performance.

Our Team

Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, you will ensure people, processes, and technologies are working at optimal performance to meet business objectives.

What You Will Do in Your Role

• Lead and manage the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and effective maintenance of plant equipment and facilities. Coordinate maintenance activities, provide technical guidance, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. Minimise downtime and maximise equipment reliability.
• Support the organisation with influential leadership while advancing our Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture.
• Promote a culture of safety and ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Ensure maintenance practices meet relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance maintenance efficiency.
• Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and procurement departments to support plant performance and operational goals.

The Experience You Will Bring

• NVQ Level 3 Engineering Modern Apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment maintenance, reliability, and standard maintenance processes.
• Supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Desire to understand root causes and contribute to reducing equipment downtime risk.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with stakeholders.
