A leading energy company is seeking an enthusiastic engineer to join the Maintenance and Inspection team in Slough. The role involves leading EHV project work, coordinating with National Grid, and managing capital and maintenance projects up to 132kV. Salary: £49,004 - £72,592 (depending on authorisations) + London allowance (if based in Slough or London) + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

We're seeking an enthusiastic engineer to join the SSEN Maintenance and Inspection team in the Thames region, supporting the Southern Distribution Network.
You’ll lead EHV project, maintenance, and protection work (22kV-132kV), including outage planning, protection testing, and coordination with National Grid and internal teams to deliver safe, efficient solutions.
The role includes managing capital, maintenance, and repair projects, maintaining accurate IT records, and ensuring financial accountability. Operational authorisation up to 132kV (or working toward it) is required, along with knowledge of ESQCR and outage risk.
Strong project management and leadership skills will help you thrive in this role, along with a genuine enthusiasm for improving how we work. You’ll also be a key representative of SSEN, building positive relationships with our stakeholders and helping ensure a great experience for our customers.
A valid driving licence is essential.
This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, as a role requirement, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work-related travel.
The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role.
