A leading engineering company based in Scarborough is offering a Maintenance Engineer Apprentice position focused on optimizing operational performance through maintenance techniques. The role involves ensuring safety, managing spare parts inventory, and providing support during breakdowns. Ideal candidates should have a demonstrable interest in engineering, strong teamwork skills, and a minimum of 5 GCSEs. Benefits include a competitive salary and various employee programs.

Salary: £20,000
As a Maintenance Engineer Apprentice you will optimize operational performance through proactive/reactive maintenance techniques. This is to ensure that safety is secured through the adoption of safe working practices and the provision of safe plant and equipment, whilst also providing on‑rota call‑out cover in support of the factory reactive breakdowns.
During your apprenticeship, you will receive two different types of training.
‘Off‑the‑job’ training is delivered by one of our carefully selected Training Providers during your normal working hours. You will spend at least 20% (average 6 hours per week) of your working hours completing ‘off‑the‑job’ training. This is protected time and is a requirement for apprenticeship delivery. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills, and behaviours set out in the apprenticeship standard so you can achieve occupational competence.
37.5 hours per week to be worked from Monday to Friday. Exact start and finish times are to be agreed upon with Line Manager. Some of these hours will be allocated to off‑the‑job training as part of your Apprenticeship Programme.
Monday to Thursday: 07:55 to 16:25
Friday 07:55 to 13:25
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent), at Grade 4 or above including Maths, English and a science related subject.
No pre‑requisite experience required but a demonstrable interest in engineering through school or hobby interests.
