Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical)

Location: Worcester

Salary: £51,000 per annum

Shifts: 4 on, 4 off (Days and Nights)

Contract Type: Permanent

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Worcester. You will be responsible for providing both electrical and mechanical maintenance support to ensure the smooth running of our production lines. Working on a 4 on, 4 off rotating shift pattern (days and nights), you will play a key role in maintaining our equipment to maximize uptime and minimize production disruptions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance: Perform both reactive and preventative maintenance on a range of electrical and mechanical equipment across the plant, including conveyors, mixers, ovens, pumps, and packaging machinery.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and rectify faults on production machinery, electrical systems, and control panels, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Planned Maintenance: Ensure adherence to planned maintenance schedules, conducting inspections, servicing, and repairs in line with best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for equipment optimization and collaborate with the team to implement improvements, reduce downtime, and enhance productivity.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain a safe working environment by following all safety protocols, performing risk assessments, and contributing to health and safety initiatives.
  • Documentation: Complete maintenance logs and reports, ensuring all work is documented accurately for compliance and traceability.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering and production teams to ensure that the plant operates efficiently.
Key Requirements
  • Electrical & Mechanical Skills: You must have a solid understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems, with hands‑on experience working across both disciplines.
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • Previous experience working in a similar maintenance role, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Problem‑Solving: Strong fault‑finding skills and the ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively to minimize production downtime.
  • Flexible Shift Availability: Ability to work on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (days and nights) as part of the maintenance team.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate issues and solutions with both technical and non‑technical colleagues.
Desirable
  • Experience in food manufacturing or similar fast‑paced industries.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and automation systems.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
