Maintenance Engineer – Location: Whitstable, Kent.

Salary: £35-36K with a 25% shift allowance

As a Maintenance Engineer, you\'ll play a vital role in supporting internal customers, delivering planned and reactive maintenance, and driving engineering projects across the site. The client is known for its innovation, collaborative culture, and investment in its people.

You'll be responsible for diagnosing faults, completing PPM tasks, managing CMMS priorities, and supporting both facilities and equipment maintenance. From PLCs to hydraulic systems, you'll work across a broad range of technologies and contribute to site regeneration and sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose the failure and causes of asset/component breakdowns, repair or fit new parts and make sure the equipment is working correctly.
  • Complete PPM tasks, including Condition-Based Monitoring. Identify remedial works and coordinate the resolutions promptly.
  • Utilise the CMMS system to prioritise works, lead discussions within the departmental morning meeting, and balance resolving long-term actions along with the short-term urgent actions.
  • Maintain a responsible attitude to work, and liaise with departments, customers and other engineering and production colleagues professionally.
  • Maintain and store maintenance tools and equipment to the standard required.
  • Provide a timely breakdown response to emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs.
  • Work with specialist equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLC), hydraulic and pneumatic systems, which control machinery in the machine shop, assembly and plating shop area.
  • Installation of electrical and/or mechanical plant and equipment, i.e. control panels, fixed electrical installations & testing.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years\' experience in a similar role
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • GCSE Grade 5 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret technical diagrams and use CMMS systems

Desirable: Apprenticeship, IOSH Working Safely, 18th Edition Wiring Regs, CNC/Automation/Plating experience
