The ideal candidate will have a recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent experience. Strong communication skills, flexibility, and a full driving licence are essential. Qualifications

  • Must have relevant experience in maintenance and repair work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and LOLER testing.
  • Carry out inspections and maintenance in the Wakefield Equipment Service Stores.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer to join Wakefield Equipment and Wheelchair Service. We are looking for a motivated individual with strong technical skills and a commitment to delivering high‑quality service.

The ideal candidate will have successfully completed a recognised mechanical apprenticeship or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and experience. All applicants must have relevant experience and a sound working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and Safe Working Practices.

This role involves routine maintenance, inspection, and repair work on a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment. Duties will also include Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) testing. Full training will be provided.

The equipment involved is used in client’s homes and residential homes across the Wakefield District. The successful candidate will also carry out inspections and maintenance within the Wakefield Equipment Service Stores.
