Overview

MERITUS are working with one of Europe's leading defence manufacturers for the recruitment of a Maintenance Engineer to join their Stevenage site on a 12 Month contract basis. The role is full time on site paying £40 per hour via umbrella, and requires the incumbent to be a sole UK National as the customer would look to start a security clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day support to operations teams.
  • Conduct repairs on process equipment and environmental stress screening facilities.
  • Use technical documentation (drawings, schematics, manuals) to provide guidance and carry out repairs.
  • Apply knowledge of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to maintain equipment effectively.
  • Perform accurate fault finding and repairs down to component level.
  • Support continuous improvement and technical troubleshooting across the team.
  • Mentor junior staff when requested by the line manager.
Qualifications
  • Minimum qualification: HNC in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Proven experience in fault finding to component level.
  • Ability to interpret and use instructions, handbooks, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding and experience of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
  • Skilled in taking precise measurements down to component level.
  • Experience working on manufacturing process equipment (experience with CCA manufacture desirable).
  • Familiarity with vibration shakers and environmental chambers (desirable).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff.
  • Working knowledge of SAP (desirable).
