Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to work at a food production facility in Scunthorpe. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical systems and play a key role in maintaining production performance. Responsibilities include fault diagnosis, scheduled maintenance, and collaboration with production teams. This position offers a 4 on 4 off shift pattern with days and nights.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience as a multi-skilled engineer or similar role.
  • Practical knowledge of food processing machines is preferred.

Job description

We are recruiting Maintenance Engineers to join a leading food production facility based in North Lincolnshire. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced engineers to join a well-established manufacturer, operating in a high‑speed, high‑volume environment. These roles are essential to maintaining production performance and driving continuous improvements across the site, working on a 4 on 4 off days and nights rotation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs across electrical and mechanical systems to minimise production downtime
  • Take a hands‑on approach in both scheduled maintenance and immediate breakdown response
  • Maintain, optimise, and repair a range of equipment including slicing systems, seasoning units, conveyors, and automated packaging lines
  • Participate in ongoing improvement initiatives to increase machine efficiency and reduce unplanned stoppages
  • Work closely with operations and production teams to ensure smooth running of equipment and minimal disruption
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and internal maintenance procedures at all times
Skills & Experience Required
  • Strong hands‑on experience working with both electrical and mechanical systems in a manufacturing or production setting
  • Experience in a similar role (such as multi‑skilled engineer, electrical maintenance engineer, shift engineer, shift technician, maintenance technician)
  • Relevant engineering qualification – such as NVQ Level 3, BTEC, HNC/HND or equivalent apprenticeship
  • Practical knowledge of maintaining and troubleshooting automated machinery – particularly in packaging or food processing environments (preferred but not essential)
  • Confidence in reacting to breakdowns as well as carrying out preventative maintenance tasks
