Maintenance Engineer - Bedford

Salary: £40,000

Hours of work: 6am to 2pm with some flexibility. To be discussed at interview

Founded in 2006 by the son of a Vet and Veterinary Nurse, our business was initially an experiment to help the family's veterinary practice sell medication and feeds online. Since then we have grown tremendously and are now one of the UK's largest and most trusted suppliers of pet and horse supplies, medicines, food, toys and equipment.

Having recently automated our new warehouse premises in Bedford, we now require an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to join our business to become a super user on our packaging machine via extensive first‑hand training from its Italian manufacturer.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring line efficiency and minimising machine down time
  • Planned preventative maintenance of the machine ensuring its smooth operation at all times.
  • Ensuring health and safety measures are adhered to at all times.
  • Provision of both mechanical and electrical knowledge to ensure any machines issues are dealt with promptly.
  • Fault finding, diagnosing and repairing.
  • Liasing effectively with line operatives to ascertain the issues/problems being experienced on the machine in order to aid fault diagnosis.
Person Criteria
  • Prior experience as a Maintenance Engineer gained in an automated environment such as warehouse/logistics/distribution/food production.
  • Fault finding and diagnosis skills.
  • Strong Mechanical Engineering skills with good appreciation of electrical
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proactive team player
