This role offers a Recruitment and Retention payment of £3,500 per year.

Job summary

As a Maintenance Craftsperson (Mechanical), you'll play a key role in the day‑to‑day maintenance and operation of engineering plant and equipment across our community hospitals. This includes:

  • Plumbing and pipework repairs and installations, including hot and cold water systems.
  • Fault‑finding and repair on mechanical systems such as heating and ventilation, pumps, compressors, motors, and emergency generators.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, ward staff, and contractors to minimise disruption to patient care.
  • Occasionally performing basic electrical tasks and supporting other trades where required.

You’ll also be expected to prioritise your workload using our Facilities Management system and maintain accurate records of all work completed.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship or NVQ L3 and two years continuous experience in the industry, together with the required minimum qualifications of a Level 3 in mechanical engineering.
  • Driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or ONC/HNC in building services or mechanical discipline.
  • Working knowledge of Legionella ACOP L8.
Experience
Essential
  • Previous experience in the relevant trade.
  • Experience working alongside other trades.
