KYN BICKLEY is an 86‑bedroom home offering each resident an elegant and comfortable bedroom, communal areas for dining and reclining; and inviting outdoor terraces overlooking landscaped gardens bordered by woodland. About the opportunity

As a Maintenance Assistant you will be responsible for:

  • Support the Maintenance Engineer in creating a safe and well‑presented environment whilst consistently delivering an exceptional experience for our residents and their families
  • Undertake daily tasks so the functional upkeep of the care home, bedrooms, communal areas involving indoor and outdoor are well maintained and kept to the KYN standard
  • Support the Maintenance Engineer in health and safety, compliance checks and risk assessments
  • Undertake routine maintenance tasks and minor general repair work as requested by the Maintenance Engineer
  • Ensure that the maintenance of the garden and exteriors is to the KYN standard
  • Check the maintenance request book for tasks to be completed
  • Support the Maintenance Engineer in weekly fire alarm tests and routine checks of fire doors, security doors and window restrictors
  • Undertake routine checks of Wheelchairs, Reclining Chairs and Nursing Beds
  • Support the Maintenance Engineer in monthly visual checks of the firefighting apparatus, e.g., extinguishers and hydrants and document in line with compliance
  • Check water temperatures of sinks, showers, and baths monthly
  • Ensure water flushing is undertaken in line with risk assessments, KYN policy and national standards
  • Keep accurate records of any work undertaken
  • Clean shower heads and waste traps
  • Support the Maintenance Engineer in checking water hardness and water temperatures within the boiler room and keep accurate records
  • Keep the water softener topped up with salt
  • Fit shelves and picture hooks in residents’ rooms as requested
  • Assist staff with moving furniture as requested
  • Ensure a supply of matched paint and undertake redecoration and repair works to the interior and exterior of the building
  • Change light bulbs and clean shades as required
  • Ensure that the grounds and car park are free from litter
  • Ensure external bin areas are kept clean and tidy
  • Support the Life Enriching Activity Lead/Life Enriching Activity Co‑ordinators in the implementation of a whole home approach to the provision of meaningful occupation for all residents, taking a proactive attitude towards the engagement of all residents at all times
  • Be flexible to work in several KYN Homes, supporting other maintenance personnel and covering holiday periods
  • Carry out the physical demands of the job safely
  • Adhere to KYN’s policies and procedures
