Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital
Full time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week)
08:00AM - 16:00PM (Monday - Friday)
Salary - £23,200.32 - £27,422.06 (depending on experience) per annum plus benefits

Here at Serco, we are looking to provide a safe and efficient maintenance of the Building Fabric and equipment within the hospital as directed by Estates Supervisors and management.

Main Accountabilities

To ensure that the Hospital Building, Fabric, Plant, Services and Equipment are maintained to a high standard to ensure continued efficiency, safety and reliability and to safeguard the future long‑term serviceability of the Estate as contractually required by Serco, Octagon and the Norfolk & Norwich NHS Trust

To always ensure safety. To always assess all aspects of tasks and take appropriate actions. To know when to request advice or assistance. To understand own limitations

To be able to communicate effectively with Peers, Supervisors and Managers within Serco. To be able to communicate politely with Trust Staff, i.e inform relevant people of work to be carried out and informing of work status and potential unavailability of areas, equipment or service. To understand the contractual relationship between Serco, Octagon and the Trust

  • To carry out reactive repairs and maintenance to the Building Fabric and Structure within all areas of the Hospital as directed by Supervisors or Managers.
  • To carry out certain Planned Preventive Maintenance.
  • To work in accordance with all relevant Serco Policies & Procedures, Work Place Regulations and Best Practice Guidelines.
  • To work in a safe and responsible manner with full regard for own and other's safety at all times.
  • To attend work in compliance with the Computerised Time & Attendance System.
  • To actively participate in the Computerised Labour Control System, including accurate and punctual completion of Work Order Documentation.
  • To use personal communication equipment as requested.
  • To be prepared to attend work or work beyond expected finishing time in exceptional circumstances, as requested by Supervisors or Managers.
  • Communicate to Supervisors or Managers unrepaired faults or defects or requirements for Spare Parts.
  • To attend on‑site and off‑site training as required.
  • To be aware of how the Maintenance Assistant Role influences Serco's Norfolk & Norwich Contract and the wider company objectives.
What you'll need to do the role:
  • Proven experience of working in a similar environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general Building Services.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
