Job summary

Job description

To bring evidence-based, holistic care to patients who are undergoing investigation, treatment or follow-up for the diagnosis of Urological Cancer. To provide nurse led clinics to support the Band 7 Uro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist. To act as an advocate for patients with Urological cancer. To be a resource for patients and their families throughout the phases of their illness. To co-operate in a team approach to improve the care of patients with Urological Cancer.

Responsibilities
  • To be a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • To perform initial and on-going assessment of patient needs, including physical, educational and psychosocial aspects of care.
  • To be available as the primary resource and nursing link between outpatients, community and the inpatient service.
  • To develop an effective communication and continuing support system for the patient at the time of diagnosis.
  • To act as an advocate and keyworker for patients undergoing investigation, treatment and follow-up of Urological Cancer.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered on part 1 (general adult branch) of the NMC register.
  • 2 years post-registration experience in urology / acute cancer environment.
