You will be responsible for assisting in daily production line setups, performing preventative maintenance on various machinery, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations. Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily production line setups and machine startups.

  • Keep the engineering workshop and store organized.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Support the Maintenance Coordinator with factory line operations.

Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of leading and prestigious contract packing and reworking company based just outside of Kings Lynn, due to their continued growth and development they are seeking to employ a Machine and Maintenance Operative to join their friendly team as soon as possible.

This will be an ongoing contract leading to permanent for the right candidate.

Hours will be Monday to Thursday 7am - 6pm

Overtime also available.

Salary dependent on experience and skills

Responsibilities
  • Duties include assisting with the daily setting up of all production lines and start-up of all machines.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance requirements for all machinery and equipment and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Carrying out daily machine guard checks and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Providing help and assistance to Supervisors and Line Leaders in response to breakdowns and faults and being pro‑active in this area.
  • Be present and observe all activities on the shop floor and look out for possible issues and remedy as quickly as possible to keep production continuous.
  • Carrying out general site and building maintenance as and when required and completing enhancements on production lines.
  • Understand how all machinery operates including tray makers, labellers, can loaders, shrink wrap ovens, date coders, compressors and cardboard/polythene balers.
  • Ensure that the engineering workshop and store is kept neat and tidy and all tools, stock and consumables are managed.
  • Be prepared to assist in any other duties that may be required.
  • Maintaining regular contact with other departments through the day regarding matters relating to mechanical failures; any other issues likely to affect the efficient operation of the factory.
  • Ensuring the welfare of yourself and the team around you.
  • Ensuring the Health & Safety regulations are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensuring that company policy (as laid down in the employee handbook) is adhered to at all times.
  • To promote good team working within your own team.
  • To strive to promote good working relations with other departments.
  • Any other tasks/responsibilities that the company may, from time to time, require you to carry out or assume.
  • To promote the good image and reputation of FT Short with customers and within the wider community.
  • Primary responsibility is supporting Maintenance Co‑ordinator with daily requirements for all the factory lines and site to ensure continuous running of all the machinery to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Following period of Training and Mentoring, duties will include repairing or replacing defective parts, testing and adjusting equipment and ensuring that all safety requirements are met.
  • The Technician must be skilled in working with hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments.
