Imperial College Health Care NHS Trust is the largest provider of breast services in north-west London. The breast surgery department sees approximately 21,000 outpatients and undertakes 900 surgical procedures a year. The department provides a broad range of services including daily rapid diagnostic clinics, a comprehensive surgical service with full reconstructive options, and a well-established family history clinic. It is an essential service for patients referred from local primary care services as well as the Trust-hosted West of London Breast Screening Service.

The Breast Surgery Department is looking to appoint a full-time (10 PA) Specialist Grade Doctor on a locum 12-month contract, to start in the late summer of 2025. The post will be based at Charing Cross Hospital with some activity at St Mary’s Hospital. The post-holder will play a key role in ensuring the department achieves the 28-day Faster Diagnostic Standard and the 62-day treatment target for patients referred with suspected cancer. The post-holder will also be involved in the running of a sector-wide initiative for patients presenting with breast pain only. They will also have involvement in Family History clinics. There is no on-call commitment with this post.
