Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment and drugs for anaesthesia.
  • Support the anaesthetist during procedures.
  • Monitor patients throughout anaesthesia.
  • Prepare and maintain sterile instruments.
  • Assist the surgeon during operations.
  • Ensure a sterile environment is maintained.
  • Monitor patients as they regain consciousness.
  • Manage airways, pain, and vital signs.
  • Identify and respond promptly to complications.

Locum Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) – Gibraltar

Contract: Up to 6 months
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (including weekends and night shifts)
Salary: Pro-rated salary between £30,378 – £40,140 (based on NHS reckonable service)

Key Responsibilities
Anaesthetic Care
  • Prepare equipment and drugs for anaesthesia
  • Support the anaesthetist during procedures
  • Monitor patients throughout anaesthesia
Surgical (Scrub) Role
  • Prepare and maintain sterile instruments
  • Assist the surgeon during operations
  • Ensure a sterile environment is maintained
Recovery (Post-Anaesthetic Care)
  • Monitor patients as they regain consciousness
  • Manage airways, pain, and vital signs
  • Identify and respond promptly to complications
Requirements
  • Current registration as an Operating Department Practitioner
  • Relevant experience in anaesthetic, scrub, and recovery roles
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
