Job description
Overview

We are seeking to appoint 3 fixed term locum consultants in General Paediatrics for a hybrid role of Senior Decision Making between the Paediatric Emergency Department and the General Paediatric team.

Responsibilities
  • Work between Paediatric ED and General Paediatric ward to support flow and expedite triage and direct Paediatric patients to support the busy winter period.
  • Participate in 1:3 weekday and weekend rota.
  • Cover Paediatric Assessment Unit and A&E and be resident onsite till 10pm.
  • Shift patterns will be 12 hours per day, 7 days a week, as part of the on-call rota.
Department

The Paediatric Department consists of a Children’s Ward (24 beds), Pluto day unit (6 beds) and Paediatric outpatient clinic. The department also provides Level 1 POSCU services at this site. The Level 2 Neonatal Unit has 30 cots, 4 of which are equipped for intensive care, 6 High Dependency and a 4-bed transitional care ward.
