Job summary

A leading NHS healthcare provider in London is looking for a Locum Consultant in Community Paediatrics to join a supportive team. This full-time role requires expertise in autism assessment and safeguarding, along with full GMC registration. Locum Consultant in Community Paediatrics

This is an excellent opportunity for a new or established consultants to join a thriving Community Paediatric department providing a wide range of community paediatric services

Applications are invited for the inner London post to join a dynamic and supportive team of community paediatricians for a full time or job share locum post to cover maternity leave for 9 months. The post holder will carry out community paediatric general work and a special interest will be welcomed and supported.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold License to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in all aspects of community paediatrics, suited to their experience and competencies and the priorities of service provision. The post holder will undertake assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental concerns and safeguarding. They will participate in the safeguarding and child sexual abuse rota.

Posts holder will work across Lambeth and Southwark as part of the Evelina Community Paediatric team.

Person Specification
Professional Qualifications
  • Eligible for full UK GMC/GDC registration and a Licence to Practise.
  • MRCPCH/MRCP or equivalent
  • On GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT in Community Paediatrics or Paediatric Neurodisability.
Clinical Experience
  • oEvidence of the training and experience gained obtaining the CCT in Community Child Health and/or Neurodisability
  • oExperience in autism and related disorders with training in using standardised tools in Autism assessment
  • oExtensive clinical experience in the field of safeguarding
  • oBe clinically active or have held an active clinical position in the previous two years
  • oExperience of working with vulnerable and families and children in challenging situations, such as the need to challenge parental behaviours or beliefs.
  • oExperience of working with adolescents and understanding of their special needs
Audit & Clinical Governance
  • oTrack record of clinical governance, audit and quality improvement.
  • oAble to develop, implement, review, evaluate and update local guidance and policy in light of research findings, guidance and legislation.
Research, Teaching skill & experience
  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff in a variety settings
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems.
  • Have proven negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Able to work effectively across organisational boundaries
  • oAbility to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority
