Job Summary

Join the fight against NHS fraud. We're looking for a motivated, detail‑driven individual to join our team as a Local Counter Fraud Technician.

In this varied and rewarding role, you'll help protect vital NHS resources from fraud, bribery and corruption, ensuring money meant for patient care stays exactly where it should.

Working closely with our Local Counter Fraud Specialist, you'll support fraud prevention work across a range of organisations, including training delivery, fraud detection exercises and building a strong anti‑fraud culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support functions to the Local Counter Fraud Specialist/Head of Counter Fraud through a range of activities, ensuring an integrated, comprehensive and professional counter‑fraud service.
  • Contribute to agreed anti‑fraud work‑plans of client organisations, including fraud case management system data entry, stakeholder liaison, handling and recording evidence, developing an anti‑fraud culture, detection, deterrence and prevention work.
  • Travel and stay away from home periodically as part of your role, operating across various client groups.
  • Obtain a DBS check (standard Disclosure and Barring Service check) – the Trust will cover the cost.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Successful completion or willingness to complete Level 4 Accredited Counter Fraud Technician (ACFTech) training, certified and accredited by the Counter Fraud Professional Awards Board (CFPAB) and approved by Northumbria University.
  • Advanced keyboard skills and demonstrable experience of using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and provide summary reports.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
  • Subject to the Equality Act, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to fraud, bribery and corruption.
  • Knowledge of police, criminal procedures and the criminal justice system.
  • Experience working within a counter‑fraud role.
  • Experience working in the NHS and a good understanding of its systems and processes.
  • Experience of multi‑agency working, both internal and external to the NHS.
