Job description

Job Title: LINUX Engineer (Service Support)

Location – Stevenage

Role Type: Office-based

Our purpose is to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation. As a Linux Engineer, you will support our live services and contribute to this mission by supporting our high-profile customer through the implementation and configuration of complex IT solutions.

Your Role
  1. Receive and review customer-related system issues via a ticketing system.
  2. Resolve issues to maintain system operation within SLA and KPI standards.
  3. Document processes, record all steps for first-time fixes and quick resolutions.
  4. Monitor system status and report issues promptly.
  5. Maintain high customer satisfaction by understanding and meeting customer needs.
  6. Support server and application support tasks, including automation, image building, scripting, and Linux server configuration.
  7. Mentor and train junior team members as needed.
  8. Contribute to new work requirements as directed by Service Delivery Managers.
  9. Become security cleared to a high level.
Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 0700 – 1900, with possible work from home options upon approval.

Required Experience and Skills
  • Good understanding of IT support and team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of Linux systems, including supported legacy Unix OS (Solaris), RHEL (5.x to 9.x), Debian (10.x, 11.x).
  • Scripting skills in Python, Bash, KSH.
  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible.
  • Familiarity with VMWare deployment and security frameworks.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve system issues and analyze system performance.
