Job description

As a linen porter, you will maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the linen room, bedrooms and public areas as specified by the Supervisor to create a pleasant environment for our guests. To support the housekeeping department by working in the linen room, ensuring sufficient linen is available for daily operation, and maintaining the required productivity and standards in the housekeeping department.

Your day to day
  • Perform the sorting, counting and recording of all linen to ensure sufficient stock is available
  • Check all laundry in and out, ensuring all documentation is checked and completed as necessary
  • Ensure the delivery of clean linen to designated areas in the hotel by specified deadlines
  • Ensure the collection of soiled linen from designated areas in the hotel by specified deadlines
  • Check all linen cupboards regularly and ensure they are maintained in a tidy organised manner and fully stocked
  • Receive and store housekeeping deliveries, place them in appropriate/designated storage cupboards
  • Clean carpets and upholstery
  • Report any maintenance issues or faults using the company process.
  • Count the rejected linen and place it in red laundry bags
  • Ensure that all linen trolleys, cupboards and all items of guest service are stocked as required
  • Provide guests with requested service at all times
  • Open sofa beds and move mattresses.
  • Dispose of waste accordingly
  • Handle guest requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation
  • Carry out lost property procedures
  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships
