- Client Interaction: Greet clients warmly to ensure they feel welcome in the salon environment.
- Hair Care: Under supervision, shampoo, condition, and treat hair.
- Stylist Assistance: Support stylists with hair cutting, colouring, and styling services.
- Skills Development: Learn and practice blow-drying and finishing techniques.
- Salon Maintenance: Keep the salon clean and organised, including sweeping floors, sanitising tools, and setting up stations.
- Preparation Duties: Prepare colour mixes and salon equipment for stylists.
- Administrative Support: Book appointments, handle calls, and assist with reception duties.
- Product Promotion: Recommend and promote salon products and services to clients.
- Learning Opportunities: Shadow experienced stylists to observe advanced techniques.
- Training Sessions: Attend apprenticeship training sessions to enhance skills and confidence.
Training and Qualification
- Apprentices will gain practical experience in the salon while attending weekly off-the-job training sessions at London South East Colleges (LSEC), Plumstead Campus.
Career Progression
- After completing the Level 2 Hairdressing Professional apprenticeship, opportunities include progressing to a Level 3 Hairdressing Advanced Apprenticeship or roles such as Junior Stylist, Salon Assistant, or Hairdresser.
- Further experience may lead to positions like Senior Stylist, Salon Supervisor/Manager, or Specialist Roles such as colourist or stylist trainer.
- Some may choose to start their own salon business or specialise in creative hair services.
