An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised and proactive Legal Secretary to join the thriving Commercial department of a well-respected law firm. Working at the heart of a busy and fast-paced team, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing top-tier administrative and secretarial support to fee earners, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day client transactions and department operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively managing fee earners' diaries, appointments, and deadlines
  • Preparing files for billing and handling a wide range of administrative duties
  • Drafting straightforward legal documents and supporting with forms such as Stamp Duty and Land Registry applications
  • Fielding and screening incoming calls with professionalism and discretion
  • Organising correspondence, photocopying, filing, and new client file creation
  • Managing mail, emails, and client communications, always with empathy and a client-first mindset
  • Liaising with clients and stakeholders to keep them informed of key updates throughout transactions
  • Supporting reception and postal duties when required
Essential
  • Previous experience in Commercial Property, Development, or Conveyancing legal secretarial work – or a genuine interest in learning this area
  • Strong administrative background with exceptional attention to detail
  • Professional, calm, and confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
  • A team player with a flexible and collaborative approach
  • High level of IT proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office
  • The ability to stay composed under pressure and deliver high-quality work to deadlines
Desirable
  • Legal Secretary Level 2 Certificate/Diploma
  • Familiarity with LEXCEL and Investors in People standards
  • Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules and handling client monies
