The Opportunity

A new opportunity now exists to join the global legal team based in Mayfair. In this role, you will work as part of the UK Legal Team undertaking a broad ranging general commercial position.

The role is a varied in-house position and you would be responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, analysing legal implications of various situations and advising the business accordingly. This role would involve advising the business on regulatory compliance, including compliance with anti-trust and sanctions regimes, data protection and anti-bribery and corruption. You would also be involved with matters relating to restructuring, finance and M&A and assisting the General Counsel with special projects.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, ensuring the inclusion of all relevant information and protections for Hikma;
  • Analysing legal implications of a variety of business situations and providing sound legal advice to business colleagues;
  • Advising the business on legal and regulatory issues, including compliance with the GDPR, global sanctions and EU anti-trust regimes;
  • Providing day-to-day legal support to the commercial, regulatory, quality and pharmacovigilance teams in Europe;
  • Managing a large number of matters and following up pro-actively to ensure all legal and compliance issues are appropriately addressed;
  • Liaising with and managing input from external legal advisers, as required;
  • Assisting the General Counsel on special projects such as M&A, business development and internal policy initiatives; and
  • Assisting with group corporate legal issues and providing support to the Treasury, Finance, Tax, HR and Company Secretarial teams.
Education
  • LLB / BA / BSc degree or equivalent
  • English law qualified solicitor (other jurisdictions may be considered depending on experience)
Experience
  • 1-2 years PQE (NQs would be considered)
  • Experience in corporate and / or commercial law
  • Time spent in an in-house role would be beneficial
  • Prior pharmaceutical experience would be an advantage
  • Experience advising on compliance with the GDPR, EU anti-trust and / or global sanctions regimes would be helpful
  • Familiarity with intellectual property law would be useful but not essential
  • Familiarity with any of : debt financing structures, public company transactions and / or corporate law would be helpful.
