Role Summary

We are seeking a committed and dynamic Lecturer to join the academic team for the BSc (Hons) Fashion Management and Strategy. This innovative degree emphasises values-based business management for the fashion and lifestyle industries, preparing students to become ethical, creative, and commercially aware leaders in a fast-changing global sector.

The Lecturer will contribute to teaching, curriculum delivery, assessment, and student support. The successful candidate will combine academic expertise with practical industry insight, bringing knowledge of sustainable business practices, strategic management, and the creative dimensions of fashion commerce. You will inspire students to critically engage with fashion management, strategy, and ethics, while equipping them with the professional and transferable skills required by employers.

Key Activities and Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging teaching across modules in fashion management, strategy, sustainability, and values-based business practices.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring content reflects the latest industry and academic developments.
  • Assess student work with fairness and rigour, providing high‑quality, developmental feedback.
  • Supervise and support students in their academic projects, placements, and dissertations.
  • Engage in personal research, scholarship, or industry practice to enhance teaching and maintain subject currency.
  • Participate in course quality assurance processes, including assessment moderation and annual monitoring.
  • Support student recruitment, outreach, and progression, including contributions to Open Days and induction.
  • Promote an inclusive, collaborative learning environment that supports diverse learners.
Requirements
Qualifications and Education
  • Essential: Minimum of a Master’s degree or Honours degree (2 : 1 or above) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Fashion Management, Business Management, Marketing, Strategy, Supply Chain, or related field).
  • Desirable: PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Essential: Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or willingness to achieve within probation).
  • Desirable: PGCert or equivalent teaching qualification (support will be provided if not already held).
Knowledge and Skills
  • Subject expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Fashion brand management and global market dynamics
    • Strategic planning for creative industries
    • Sustainability, ethics, and values‑based business practices
    • E-commerce, digital retail, and consumer engagement
    • Supply chain management and logistics in fashion
    • Fashion buying, merchandising, and product management
    • Innovation and entrepreneurship in lifestyle industries
  • Ability to translate academic theory into practical application for student learning.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse student cohorts.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching, assessment design, and effective feedback practice.
  • Competence in digital learning technologies and innovative pedagogical approaches.
  • Professional networks within the fashion and lifestyle industries.
Experience
  • Experience of teaching in higher education or equivalent professional training.
  • Evidence of research, scholarship, or professional practice in fashion management or related areas.
  • Experience of supervising and supporting students at undergraduate level.
  • Engagement with widening participation and diverse student communities.
