FTE Lecturer in 16-18 EMSOL (English & Maths for Speakers of Other Languages)
36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
£33,550 - £40,073 per annum
We are looking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic lecturer to teach in our 16-18 EMSOL provision to students on a full-time study programme.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment within ESOL to 16-18 EMSOL learners on a full-time study programme, including basic maths up to Functional Skills Maths Entry Level 2.
- Deliver a small range of additional courses to ESOL learners (e.g. Employability Skills, Living & Working in the UK, Citizenship, Basic Digital Skills) to supplement the main ESOL course.
- Provide high-quality student support, contribute to curriculum development and participate in quality assurance processes.
- Contribute to course leadership and internal quality assurance, with familiarisation with the awarding body’s course outline and assessment guidelines (City & Guilds/Ascentis).
- Work with a strong, supportive team of experienced professionals and engage with the EMSOL learners, recognising their motivations and barriers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven track record for outstanding delivery in teaching, learning and assessment within ESOL.
- Confidence in delivering basic maths up to Functional Skills Maths Entry Level 2.
- Experience in working with young ESOL learners and a good understanding of the challenges they face in education and the wider community.
- Demonstrable experience in high-quality student support, curriculum development and quality assurance.
- Understanding of UASC learners and the motivations and barriers they face.
- Familiarity with awarding bodies and course outlines (City & Guilds/Ascentis) and how they underpin assessment guidelines.
