Learning Support Worker (ALS Bristol)

South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is looking for an enthusiastic Learning Support Worker to join our Learning Support team at our Bristol campuses (Wise Campus & Filton Avenue Campus). This role is a part‑time, permanent, term‑time position working up to 30 hours per week. The start date is available upon request. The salary is £25,287 per annum (or £17,336 for a 38‑week annual schedule). Job shares are available for this role.

Term‑time only contracts will incur a salary adjustment if the start date is after 1 September. Our team encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds and is committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum staff in‑class to support learner progress and achievement.
  • Supervise learners during unstructured times when they are not directly supervised by curriculum staff (e.g. breaks, lunch times, arrivals and departures).
  • Provide out‑of‑class academic support for learners on an individual or group basis.
  • Complete all necessary administrative duties, such as accurately recording student support.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
  • Good standard of general education including Maths and English at GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent), or willingness to upskill.
  • A desirable but not essential experience of working with young people aged 16‑25 with additional needs and/or EHCPs. This experience would preferably be within education, but other experiences related to health, social care or the community are also very relevant.
  • Experience or the willingness to learn Office 365 and its applications.
