Overview

A secondary school located in the central Manchester area is looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) starting with them following the Autumn half term (3rd November). If you are able to start sooner in the term, i.e. from October, there is potential for this so please highlight on your application.

The school is ideally looking to take on a Learning Support Assistant who has previous experience in supporting within a secondary school setting or similar. The successful Learning Support Assistant will be supporting students in year 7 through to year 11 with intervention in the core subjects of Maths and English (possibly science depending upon background and experience). The school is therefore looking for a Learning Support Assistant who is confident in these areas and is confident and adaptable in their approach.

The school is located in the Trafford area which has fantastic public transport links. This highly regarded secondary school is also easy to access via the M60 motorway network and M56 with the local metrolink servicing the school regularly.

Responsibilities
  • Full time Learning Support Assistant required: former experience within a school environment ideal
  • Provide support and intervention to year 7 - 11 in the main with opportunity to support a variety of students as required
  • Support a variety of students including lower and higher ability groups as needed, with emphasis on Math and English (and possibly science)
Salary, Contract and Availability
  • Pay range dependent upon experience, qualification and hours to be confirmed: up to £1,950 per month
  • Learning Support Assistant required from 3rd November until the end of the academic year; opportunity to progress onto a school based contract and to start earlier if applicable
  • Available five days per week; for the right candidate with specific school based experience, there is the opportunity to start in January
Qualifications and Experience

Any Learning Mentors, Learning Support Assistants or Teaching Assistants are highly encouraged to apply now for immediate consideration. Graduates who have experience of supporting students are highly encouraged to apply now, whether this be in a voluntary capacity or in a working environment such as tutoring. Given the varying nature of this position, there will be opportunity to support lower ability students in year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 moving onto the higher ability students in advance of March and again in May of next year.
