Horizon Teachers is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in South East London. Starting in September, this is a full-time role supporting students aged 11 to 16 with additional needs, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), within a mainstream classroom setting. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to ensure that students receive the tailored academic and emotional support they need to thrive. The Role:
  • Support students with additional needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties) in class and in small group sessions
  • Assist with academic work across a range of subjects, under the guidance of teaching staff
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the school's SEND department
  • Encourage student independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
  • Monitor progress and help adapt resources and strategies to meet individual needs
Requirements:
  • Experience working with young people, ideally with SEND (e.g. ASD)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learning
  • A genuine interest in education and inclusive practice
  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
