Job Title: Lead Technologist – Simulation

Salary: Up to £70,000 (depending on skills and experience)

Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the MIMESIS Product Strategy
  • Facilitate the management of MIMESIS roadmaps and IP framework
  • Facilitate the management of the MIMESIS Product Breakdown Structure and cost and licensing models
  • Engage with and collaborate with other BAE Systems businesses, external stakeholders and partners to develop and extend simulation knowledge and in the pursuit of Simulation and Training business opportunities
  • Communicate the Product Strategy and vision within the Simulation and Training team and to wider stakeholders
  • Support the Product Delivery Lead and System Design Authority in horizon scanning technologies and future ways of working, ensuring that technology solutions are identified, developed and communicated to inform Product
  • Support the Product Delivery Lead and the Project Engineering Manager in identifying the required skillsets to implement technologies and solutions, and associated recruitment needs
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership , engagement, and management within an engineering or technology-related environment.
  • Strong ability to understand and discuss technical topics (including product strategy and roadmap, project integration, software development, Agile delivery, infrastructure, cost structures, and product licence management ), without needing to be the subject-matter expert .
  • Experience in software and/or systems engineering.
  • Experience in project management and/or product development, with the ability to deliver outcomes aligned to project and business objectives .

The Product Team

As Lead Technologist within the MIMESIS Product Team, you will play a key role in supporting the Product Delivery Lead and the MIMESIS System Design Authority in the development and delivery of the MIMESIS product and its advanced simulation technologies. You will work closely with colleagues across the MIMESIS team, the wider Simulation and Technology group, and a network of academics and technical specialists across internal and external partner organisations.

MIMESIS delivers a highly sophisticated battlespace simulation of the maritime domain — modelling terrain and seabed, weather, underwater acoustics, and the movement and behaviour of ships, submarines, and other platforms. It digitally replicates platform capabilities such as sonar, radar, and weapons systems to create a realistic and powerful environment. Our product supports naval training, enables customers to explore new concepts and capabilities, and allows engineering teams to test, integrate, and validate new systems and upgrades — ultimately helping to reduce operational risk and improve mission readiness.
