Lead Teaching Assistant

Join a large secondary school as a Lead Teaching Assistant, where you will play a pivotal role in providing specialist support and leading a team to foster a supportive learning environment. This role is crucial in helping students make excellent academic progress and in removing barriers to their development, regardless of their background.
Day‑to‑day of the role:
- Enhance pupil learning and progress through the delivery of specific learning programmes, setting high expectations while encouraging independence and building confidence.
- Monitor and track student progress, adapting provision to secure maximum progress.
- Line manage teaching assistants and coordinate the provision for SEND students with the SENDCo.
- Conduct learning walks to quality assure intervention delivery and TA support within lessons.
- Analyse data to inform planning and provide teachers with strategies and resources to support students in their lessons.
- Promote inclusion, encouraging pupils to interact and work collaboratively.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date SEND registration records and documentation.
- Coordinate and manage the administration of access arrangements in line with JCQ guidelines.
- Adapt and develop resources to ensure safety and curriculum access for target students.
- Communicate professionally with parents, carers, and external agencies.
- Mentor students individually and in groups, planning and leading booster and intervention sessions.
- Provide administrative support for the effective operation of the SEND department.
- Identify and coordinate staff training needs in collaboration with the SENDCo.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and coordinating teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyse data and use it to inform educational strategies and planning.
- Proficient in using ICT systems for data entry, communication, and document management (e.g., SIMS, Excel, CPOMS, Word).
- A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to promote effective teaching and learning.
- Experience in developing and adapting educational resources to meet the needs of students.
