Job description
Role Summary

The successful candidate will act as Medical Physics Expert (MPE) and provide leadership and strategic direction in the dosimetry and QA area of radiotherapy physics. The role involves close collaboration with the lead physicist for pre‑treatment and the lead physicist for brachytherapy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB).

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as MPE as defined by legislation (currently IR(ME)R2017) providing expert advice in radiotherapy.
  • Lead the MPE team specialising in dosimetry and QA, taking responsibility for associated documented protocols and procedures.
  • Support the development of protocols and competency frameworks for new techniques.
  • Undertake a range of specialist scientific and clinical duties across Radiotherapy Physics.
  • Assist in expanding SABR service, introducing adaptive radiotherapy, and increasing research and development activity.
Qualifications
  • Medical Physics Expert certificated through RPA 2000.
  • Registered Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Experience in dosimetry and QA within a radiotherapy setting.
