Lead Mechanical Engineer – Power Generation

A global leader in fast-start, dispatchable power solutions is expanding its in-house EPC engineering capability and seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive technical excellence across major power projects.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a hands‑on, fast-paced environment, enjoys taking ownership of quality, and wants to influence standards, procedures, and deliverables across a growing engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical discipline across EPC projects, managing scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Serve as technical owner of mechanical design; may act as Engineer of Record.
  • Execute and review engineering deliverables including P&IDs, equipment layouts, 3D models, piping isometrics, sizing calculations, line lists, valve lists, and technical bid analyses.
  • Provide mechanical engineering oversight and quality reviews for third‑party engineering partners.
  • Collaborate closely with integrated EPC teams, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Start‑Up, and Operations, along with clients to resolve RFIs, review deliverables, manage change orders, and support equipment buyouts.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to project teams; foster a high-performance engineering culture.
  • Stay current with industry codes (ANSI, ASME, NFPA) and emerging technologies, applying best practices into project work.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 6+ years’ experience in power generation, fossil fuels, or related mechanical engineering fields.
  • Ability to manage multiple fast-moving projects with tight schedules.
  • Proficiency in engineering analysis and calculations (pipe flow, equipment sizing, pressure drop, etc.).
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (ANSI, ASME, NFPA).
  • Ability to provide direction on project controls and scheduling.
  • US work authorization; ability to pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in owner’s engineering or client-side roles.
  • Understanding of constructability principles, procurement, project controls, estimating, and contract administration.
