Job summary

Stantec seeks a Principal EIA – DCO Consultant to lead environmental assessments for Development Consent Orders on nationally significant infrastructure projects. Based in the UK (Bristol, London or Reading), you will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and guide clients through the EIA, scoping and submission processes.

You will mentor colleagues, contribute to business development, and help deliver robust environmental strategies aligned with Planning Act 2008 requirements while balancing

Qualifications

• Significant experience in EIA and infrastructure consenting.
• Experience contributing to or leading EIA for DCO applications.
• Strong understanding of Planning Act 2008 and Examination process.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and managing interfaces.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for complex environmental matters.
• Commercial awareness and interest in client development and bids.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate EIA for DCO applications and major infrastructure projects.
• Manage EIA workstreams through scoping, assessment, consultation and submission.
• Develop environmental assessment strategies aligned with Planning Act 2008 requirements.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and ensure robust, proportionate assessments.
• Lead preparation and QA of Environmental Statements, scoping reports and consultation materials.
• Advise clients on DCO processes, risks and programme considerations.
• Coordinate responses to consultation feedback and statutory comments.
• Contribute to examination documentation and client communications at the Examination stage.
• Liaise with clients, planning consultants, regulators and stakeholders to enable delivery.
• Manage project programmes, budgets, resources and quality to meet timescales.
• Identify environmental risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
• Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for further work.
• Contribute to bids, tenders and business development activities.
• Mentor junior colleagues and share technical knowledge within the team.
• Collaborate across planning, environmental and engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
