Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Principal EIA Consultant to lead complex environmental assessments across the UK. You will head multidisciplinary teams, coordinate inputs and deliver Environmental Statements while guiding clients through the planning and consenting process.

You will shape practice with robust technical advice, develop client relationships and contribute to business growth and knowledge sharing across our national offices.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in EIA, environmental consultancy or related discipline.
• Experience delivering and managing EIA projects and Environmental Statements.
• Understanding UK environmental assessment legislation and planning policy.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs.
• Ability to identify environmental risks and mitigation strategies.
• Proven project management skills including budgets and resources.
• Experience building relationships with clients and regulators.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.
• Experience supporting bids and business development.
• Mentoring and developing colleagues.
• Collaborative across geographically dispersed teams.
• Interest in sustainable development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to delivery of EIAs, Environmental Statements and related documents across sectors.
• Manage EIA projects and workstreams from scoping through submission.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs to ensure robust, high-quality assessments.
• Provide technical advice on constraints, impacts, mitigation and consenting requirements.
• Prepare, review and quality-assure EIA reports and supporting documentation.
• Apply knowledge of UK legislation and guidance to inform project decisions.
• Advise clients on environmental strategy and risk management.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, authorities and stakeholders.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, consultations, workshops and meetings.
• Manage delivery programs, budgets, resources and timelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve project delivery and share best practices.
• Support business development through client engagement and bids.
• Develop and retain client relationships to secure repeat work.
• Provide mentoring and support to junior colleagues.
