Job summary

Stantec in the United Kingdom is seeking a Principal EIA Consultant to lead environmental assessment and consenting services across infrastructure, energy, water, transport and development projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams and shape environmental outcomes.

You will manage EIA projects from scoping to submission, advise clients on strategy and risk, support bid activity, and mentor junior staff. The role offers national coverage with hybrid working from UK offices.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in EIA, environmental consultancy or related field.
• Strong experience delivering and managing EIA projects with Environmental Statements and supporting docs.
• Solid understanding of UK environmental assessment legislation, planning policy and guidance.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary inputs from various specialists.
• Identify environmental risks and develop practical mitigation strategies with commercial awareness.
• Proven project management skills: programmes, budgets and resources.
• Experience building relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills to explain complex environmental issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver EIAs, Environmental Statements and related documentation across sectors.
• Manage EIA projects and workstreams from scoping through consent and submission.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs to ensure robust, proportionate assessments.
• Advise clients on environmental strategy, mitigation and consenting requirements.
• Prepare and quality-assure environmental documentation and reports.
• Support bids and business development to secure repeat work.
