Job description
Overview

The Department for Work and Pensions is one of the largest Departments in Whitehall, managing the delivery of benefit payments to citizens totalling over £200bn annually. Working in Finance Group in Government, your role is to protect public funds and add value through finance assurance activities. This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly formed Strategic Finance and Business Strategy Directorate in the Department for Work and Pensions. The Business Architecture team is central in helping the Department understand how it can deliver its strategic ambitions, based upon the Departmental strategy and vision. As a Lead Business Architect, you will be critical to ensuring that the impact of the Department's strategic ambitions are understood, impacted across the business and translatable into actionable initiatives to effect change.

Responsibilities
  • You will be an essential, integral part of the leadership group within the Business Strategy team, contributing fully to the creation and maintenance of our knowledgebase, strategy development and alignment and delivery of change, underpinned by our architecture.
  • You will take a leadership role in the delivery and development of our strategy and development of holistic, integrated view of the department, either a business area or whole to achieve Departmental goals and solutions.
  • You will develop that holistic view of the department by leading, facilitating, and encouraging the sharing of information and leading on the creation of the team's knowledgebase and business architecture collateral, including frameworks, business cases, and roadmaps.
  • You will be a skilful influencer and clear communicator driven by the importance of applying architectural thinking to business change and of building clear and convincing views of how to deliver strategy both within the Directorate and wider Department.
  • You will develop and measure the capabilities that are required by the Department across its services to realise the desired outcomes and be accountable for insights, information and products that provide a holistic view of the department.
  • You will have Line Management responsibilities. You will be required to mentor and coach team members and share expert knowledge.
