Job summary

A global defence and security contractor is seeking a Lead AI Technologist to expand their AI research team. This role involves leading projects in reinforcement learning, NLP, and computer vision, as well as mentoring teams and establishing partnerships with academic and industry leaders. The ideal candidate will have a PhD and at least 10 years of experience in AI/ML. A competitive salary of £85,000 per annum plus bonuses is offered. This position is hybrid, based in Essex.

You’ll lead projects spanning reinforcement learning, NLP, computer vision, and signal processing, while mentoring teams and shaping partnerships with academic and industry leaders.

Key Skills / Experience

• Proven team leadership experience
• Strong background in engineering assurance and technical review
• Proposal writing experience
• Strong communication and mentoring skills

• Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models
• Knowledge graphs and graph neural networks
