Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a skilled Laser Operator / Machine Operator for Bodor Laser Cutter to join an exciting movie set company in Chertsey. This role involves programming and operating laser cutting machines mainly for steel and aluminium. The ideal candidate should have experience in metal fabrication, appropriate CAD skills, and forklift certification. This is a year’s contract with the possibility of becoming permanent, working Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate laser cutting machines to cut primarily steel and aluminium.
• Review and manage files in .dxf format.
• Use nesting software to minimize waste and maximize material efficiency.
• Maintain laser cutting equipment and troubleshoot issues.
• Operate forklifts safely and handle materials and finished products securely.
• Work with basic fabrication materials (steel and aluminium).
• Safely manage and move heavy materials and components.
• Use tools (angle grinders) for finishing and preparing work.
• Manage own time and communicate regarding project deadlines.

We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the Film & TV sector and we have an excellent opportunity for skilled Laser Operator / Machine Operator for Bodor Laser Cutter to join a very exciting movie set company based in Chertsey, on a year’s contract, possibly permanent.

Monday to Friday, 8 : 00am - 5 : 30pm - 20 min tea break and 45 min lunch break.

Laser Operator / Machine Operator for Bodor Laser Cutter’s Core Duties

• Program and operate laser cutting machines to cut primarily steel and aluminium
• Review and manage files in .dxf format
• Use nesting software to minimize waste and maximize material efficiency
• Maintain laser cutting equipment and troubleshoot issues
• Operate forklifts safely and handle materials and finished products securely
• Work with basic fabrication materials (steel and aluminium)
• Safely manage and move heavy materials and components, following safety guidelines
• Use tools (angle grinders) for finishing and preparing work
• Manage own time and communicate with teams regarding project deadlines

Laser Operator / Machine Operator for Bodor Laser’s Skills Required

• Experience operating Laser Cutting machines for metal fabrication
• Appropriate CAD knowledge skills for programming
• Experience in reading design files (.dxf format)
• Knowledge of fabrication materials (steel and aluminium)
• Experience with nesting software (desirable)
• Forklift certification and proven experience in using a forklift safely
• Ability to operate tools (angle grinders)
• Good communication skills
• Manual handling skills for loading / operating machinery
• Experience in Film & TV would be desirable
