Job summary

A healthcare organization in Watford is seeking a LARC nurse to provide contraceptive services. Candidates should have experience with IUD and implant placements, and be able to work flexibly around a 4-hour work week. Registration and relevant qualifications in sexual and reproductive healthcare are mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience of fitting a minimum of 12 IUD/S a year, including at least 2 different types and/or 6 implant fitting procedures per year.
  • Complete a minimum of 2 hours CPD per year.
  • Knowledge of primary health care.

Responsibilities

Job description

North Watford PCN are looking to recruit a LARC nurse to join their busy team, ideally to work 4 hours per week with some flexibility considered.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver LARC services - contraceptive implants, intrauterine device (IUD) and intrauterine system (IUS) insertions or removals in line with national and local guidance
  • Ensure that a specified and clinically appropriate contraceptive procedure is conducted safely
  • Provide a professional client facing service
  • Provide appropriate advice and information to patients, and refer or signpost on where necessary
  • Input clinical data onto the clinical system

Person Specification
Experience
  • Complete a minimum of 2 hours CPD per year
  • Recent experience of fitting a minimum of 12 IUD/S a year, including at least 2 different types and/ or 6 implant fitting procedures per year

  • Knowledge and experience of working with young people and vulnerable groups including training
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills

Qualifications
  • Current UK professional registration
  • Diploma of the Fault of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH)
  • Subscription to relevant professional bodies
  • A valid letter of competence in intrauterine techniques (LoC IUT) and in subdermal implants (LoC SDI) Evidence of re-certification
  • Royal College of Nursing (RCN) equivalent accredited training
