A major utility provider in the United Kingdom seeks a Land Manager to lead a team managing land access for maintenance and capital works. This role involves strategic planning and operational execution of land rights negotiations and compliance with safety policies. With a competitive salary range of £65,000 – £75,000 and additional benefits, this position allows for hybrid working arrangements across England and Wales. Join us in facilitating infrastructure projects and contributing to the nation's energy security.
At National Grid, we keep people connected and society moving. We own and maintain the high-voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales. Every time a phone is plugged in, or a switch is turned on, we’ve played a part, connecting you to the electricity you need.
We also take green energy seriously. We're investing over £30bn between 2025 and 2029 in projects that support the UK’s net zero and power decarbonisation targets.
As a Land Manager, you'll lead a team of Land Officers and Suppliers to deliver access to facilitate a wide range of maintenance and capital works on existing National Grid assets, both overhead and underground, and provide expert advice and support to Asset Operations (AO) teams. Our electricity assets include overhead lines, pylons, underground cables, and transmission substations, with innovation and technology enabling us to operate more efficiently, reliably, and safely every day.
Our Access to Land team plays a pivotal role in delivering The Great Grid Upgrade. Our teams are dedicated to securing land access rights, negotiating with landowners, and navigating complex compensation settlements, without which it wouldn't be possible to build and maintain our future Grid. It’s no small feat – and we need the best to join us in our mission.
This role welcomes applicants UK wide, and we offer hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to weekly travel throughout England and Wales as required. You'll also have a driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK.
National Grid Strategic Infrastructure is a Business Unit created to propel our grid forward to deliver in 5 years, what has been achieved in the previous 30. By 2030 we aim to have 17 new major infrastructure projects live across England, Scotland and Wales.
Here at National Grid, we connect homes and businesses to power, making sure supply and demand match each other. We make sure the lights are on in schools, operating theatres, and sporting arenas; we’re thousands of people working on behalf of millions of people.
Our investment in Strategic Infrastructure via The Great Grid Upgrade will mean more home‑grown power, greater energy security and a cleaner future.
Whatever your role, wherever you work with us, you’ll help us hit stretching targets and achieve our far‑reaching goal: to secure, clean energy that supports our world far into the future. Here, you will be at the heart of energy.
This role closes on 16 January 2026 at 23:59, however we encourage candidates to submit their application as early as possible and not wait until the published closing date as this can vary.
