  • Assists other laboratory personnel with rig preparation.
  • Operates designated machines, equipment and tools as directed.
  • Performs routine care of designated equipment and work area.

Job description

Under supervision, the Laboratory Assistant for RIG preparations assists laboratory staff in carrying out preparation, assembly and disassembling of test chamber rigs. A hands‑on physical approach with some knowledge and experience in the use of construction materials and equipment. Manual/physical work in an outdoor environment, which also includes working at height.

Successfully partner with Laboratory and Engineering teams to complete projects in a timely manner with high quality.

Working in accordance with internal processes, testing standards, H&S, ISO 17025 and UL procedures. In‑house and external training opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities
  • Builds and/or adapts rig setup in readiness for performance of tests.
  • Assists other laboratory personnel with rig preparation.
  • Working at height.
  • Operates designated machines, equipment and tools as directed.
  • Performs routine care of designated equipment and work area.
  • Reads and interprets drawings.
  • Develops working knowledge of the job and associated duties and methods.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • Higher Secondary Education. Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
  • Desire to work in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and drawings.
