Role

We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking KYC & Ongoing Monitoring Manager to join our growing Compliance & Risk team. In this role, you will design, implement, and oversee robust financial crime systems and controls to protect our clients while ensuring regulatory compliance. You will lead a team of Financial Crime Analysts and Associates, driving innovation and automation across Client Due Diligence (CDD) and ongoing monitoring processes.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a team of Financial Crime Analysts and Associates responsible for client onboarding and ongoing assurance.
  • Design and maintain comprehensive KYC procedures, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the end-to-end client onboarding journey, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Lead continuous monitoring reviews of clients to ensure adherence to regulatory obligations.
  • Build and enhance assurance frameworks for Embedded Banking, ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
  • Assess and monitor client financial crime risk and controls frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the MLRO and second-line teams, raising internal SARs and supporting training and knowledge development.
  • Communicate with clients to address remediation of findings and support compliance with regulatory changes.
  • Establish scalable and efficient frameworks for ongoing reviews, including planning and capacity management.
  • Approve First Line Financial Crime Assessments for submission to senior management.
  • Develop management information (MI) to support governance, audits, and second-line oversight.
  • Act as an escalation point for financial crime queries, raising issues to senior management in a timely manner.
  • Undertake additional operational tasks as required by management.
What We're Looking For
  • Extensive experience managing First Line Financial Crime Operations teams and building high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of AML, CTF, and fraud regulations, with expertise in implementing financial crime controls.
  • Background in CDD and assurance for complex client types (e.g., MSBs, PSPs, financial institutions).
  • Familiarity with Embedded Banking, including assurance in both Reliance and Non-Reliance models.
  • Proven experience in the UK regulated financial services sector (fintech, challenger banks, or correspondent banking preferred).
  • Understanding of the three lines of defence model and the role of First Line Financial Crime Operations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and external representation skills.
  • Ability to navigate challenging conversations and manage client expectations effectively.
  • Analytical, principled, and growth-oriented mindset, with excellent drafting and communication skills.
