Overview

Junior Technical CAD / Product Development Engineer – Birmingham – Up to £35,000 – Monday–Friday

An established and award-winning manufacturer within the luxury interiors sector is looking to appoint a Junior Technical CAD / Product Development Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual with CAD experience and a background in machining or product development to progress within a forward-thinking business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and developing products using AutoDesk Inventor.
  • Creating detailed technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing.
  • Working closely with the production team to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Reviewing and checking technical drawings to maintain high standards.
  • Providing support to the manufacturing team as required.
  • Ensuring all design and development work meets the company’s quality standards.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoDesk Inventor preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of metals and machining processes.
  • Good understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Experience with AutoDesk Vault.
  • Previous experience in door or cabinet hardware design.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Experience with shop floor machining/manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of creating BOMs (Bills of Materials) and technical documentation.
