A leading NHS Trust in Hereford is seeking a Band 6 junior sister/charge nurse to oversee patient care on the Acute Medical Unit. The role involves taking charge of the ward and managing staff training and patient flow. Candidates must have a strong clinical background and experience at Band 5. This position offers a salary range of £38,682 to £46,580 annually, with a fixed-term contract of 4 months. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential for success in this role.
The Acute Medical Unit is a 24 bedded mixed specialty ward which admits patients from the Emergency Department (ED). All medical specialities are admitted through the unit unless speciality bed is required and available from ED; on occasion we admit some surgical and orthopaedic patients depending on demand.
As a Band 6 junior sister/ charge nurse you will be responsible for promoting and implementing practice conducive to the development of high quality patient care by providing professional, clinical and managerial leadership. You will be expected to take charge of the Unit on a day to day basis in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse and provide support and guidance to all staff.
A strong clinical background in acute general medicine is essential to this role to support the nursing team and ensure our patients receive the right standard of care.
