Junior Installation Engineer

Manchester Area – Travel across the UK & Possibly Europe

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (OTE £45,000 – £50,000) + Half Day Friday + DIS + 25 Days Holiday + Stats + All expenses paid during workday (food/hotel/travel)

The Company

Our client is a leading provider of mechanical engineering services, supplying, designing and installing bespoke materials handling equipment and special purpose machinery.

Well established in the area, they have built a strong reputation for delivering quality service to their clients nationwide in the FMCG and Logistics industries.

Their team designs and assembles a variety of products, including conveyor systems, robots, structural steel work, crane systems, and more before installation & commissioning on client sites. They pride themselves on providing a high standard of craftsmanship and innovation, working with multi‑billion‑pound businesses across the UK.

As a business they are experiencing growth and a consistent large volume of incoming projects with a full order book many years into the future. These vacancies are urgently required to provide installation support to a VIP customer on their innumerable sites across the UK. The successful Junior Installation Engineers will work alongside Senior Installation Engineers to help manage this account and allow for a closer business‑to‑business relationship and control over the projects.

The Role

As a Junior Installation Engineer, you will form an integral part of the project team assisting with the installation of multi‑million automated systems including conveyors, robots and sortation machinery on some of the most forward‑thinking automated sites in the UK.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
  • Initially attend client site to find measurements and layout the full system in chalk using laser measurements for dimensions.
  • Bring in the automated systems – secure, install and build unit.
  • Commission – practical run through and snagging.

These installations could consist of entire new units in brand new facilities or an updated segment of a system during a facility upgrade which would be integrated into an existing automated line.

What We’re Looking For
  • A mechanically minded and hands‑on engineer
  • Ideally some kind of mechanical qualification or experience within a mechanical environment – NVQ/HNC
  • A desire to learn and progress into a senior installation role
  • Someone who can work and learn alongside a senior and pick up practical, mechanical skills
  • Experience working with basic hand tools
  • An interest in being client facing and the face of the business
  • MUST HAVE an interest in travel as this role involves extensive travel with up to 6 weeks away at any one time
The Benefits
  • Basic salary – £30k – £35k depending on experience.
  • Realistic OTE £45k – 50k including paid overtime/travel allowance.
