Job description
About Us

At Other Media, we're passionate about empowering the business of sport through digital technology. Our mission is to elevate the fan experience and build deeper, more meaningful connections between fans and the sport they love.

We're a digital agency that creates products and experiences for some of the world's most beloved brands, primarily in the sports sector. Our clients include West Ham, RSC Anderlecht, Northampton Saints, Ospreys, Swansea City, Plymouth Argyle and West Bromwich Albion.

The Role

We're in a period of exciting growth and are looking for an ambitious Junior Designer to join our team. This is a hands-on role perfect for an entry-level candidate or a junior looking for a new challenge. You'll have a measurable impact from day one and the chance to quickly advance your career.

You'll work on a wide variety of digital projects for our clients, including websites and native apps, as well as the occasional digital branding and print work. A strong understanding of design fundamentals—like hierarchy, colour theory, and an overall eye for design—is essential. This is a great role for someone who loves sport and wants to get involved in this fascinating and fast moving industry.

A lot of our work is built on our in-house Platform as Service product ‘Clubcast’. You'll be a key player in its progression, tackling challenging UI/UX problems and applying your solutions to both the product and our clients' projects.

What You\'ll Do
  • Design for a range of digital projects: Your day-to-day will involve working on new builds, phased redesigns, and standalone projects for client websites and mobile apps.
  • Collaborate and deliver: You'll work closely with our creative, development, and project management teams to deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Be a creative problem-solver: You'll explore, prototype, and ideate creative solutions while also knowing when to stick to a tried-and-tested path to get the job done.
  • Interpret and enhance brand guidelines: You'll work with the Head of Design to interpret creative briefs and create best-in-class digital experiences that serve the user and deliver ROI for our clients.
  • Contribute across the business: You'll assist with creative pitches and support our internal marketing and sales efforts.
  • Present your work: You'll have opportunities to meet with clients to showcase your designs and discuss project goals.
  • Ensure quality: You'll provide visual and functional QA to ensure all work leaving the door meets our high standards.
  • Bring new ideas to the table: We want you to share new trends, software, and ways to improve our processes.
What We\'re Looking For
  • Exceptional Communication: You can confidently explain your design decisions and accept constructive feedback with a positive attitude.
  • Solid Design Fundamentals: You know how to use typography and white space effectively to create easy-to-read designs. You understand the difference between a radio button and a checkbox.
  • Proficiency with Industry Tools: We currently use Sketch, but we\'re open to fresh perspectives from those who\'ve worked with Figma, XD, or inVision. We use Zeplin for developer handoff, and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a plus.
  • A Positive Attitude: You\'re enthusiastic and motivated, with a strong team-player mindset. We believe in succeeding and failing together.
  • A Strong Portfolio: We\'re not focused on years of experience. We want to see killer projects that demonstrate great attention to detail and elegant problem-solving.
Nice to Have
  • Experience or an understanding of motion design: Can you make something move and make someone feel something at the same time?
  • Interest in sport: Many of our clients are in the sports sector, so understanding what a fan needs before, during and after a match or event is a big plus.
  • Love for brand and identity: You have a feel for what makes a great brand and how to apply it consistently.
  • HTML/CSS knowledge: You don\'t need to code, but understanding how to communicate with developers about things like margin and padding is a big advantage.
  • Information Architecture & User Experience skills: You can map out a website and consider the user\'s journey, including edge cases.
  • Native mobile & responsive designs in your portfolio: You\'ve designed for both mobile apps and websites and understand the limitations and opportunities of each.
What We Offer

We\'re a hardworking and compassionate agency with a fun, can-do attitude. We succeed as a team and are committed to your growth.

  • Salary: £22,000 - £27,000 per year
  • Hybrid Work: You\'ll work a flexible schedule, with Thursdays in our London office.
  • Flexitime: Choose your own 7-hour workday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
  • 25 Days Holiday: Increases by one additional day for every year of service after five years, up to a maximum of 30 days.
  • "Bank Holiday Bonus Day": An extra day off on a Friday during any month without a bank holiday.
  • Company Pension
  • Career Development: Regular personal and career planning sessions to help you achieve your goals.
