IT Operations Specialist - UK Launch Site (m/f/d)

We are seeking a hands-on IT Operations Specialist to support the day-to-day IT needs of our UK launch site. You will maintain reliable network infrastructure, manage on-site servers, and provide responsive support to engineers, technicians, and operational staff during mission-critical activities. This position works in close coordination with IT leadership and engineering teams at HQ, ensuring alignment with company-wide standards, architecture, and processes. The role requires someone comfortable working in remote field environments with a high degree of independence. It follows a 19 days on, 9 days off schedule.

Your Tasks
  • Provide on-site IT support to all launch site personnel, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain and support end-user devices (Windows and/or Linux), peripherals, and workstations.
  • Operate effectively in a remote field environment, ensuring stable IT operations during on-site campaigns.
  • Collaborate closely with HQ IT staff to implement policies, configurations, and support procedures.
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Layer 2/3 network infrastructure, including switches, access points, and routing.
  • Support secure connectivity between the launch site and other company locations.
  • Ensure IT Systems and network availability during testing and launch operations.
  • Manage on-site server environments, including system updates, backups, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Support virtualization platforms (Proxmox, VMware, or equivalent).
  • Maintain directory services, authentication, and access control (Active Directory or similar).
  • Implement system standards and configurations defined by HQ.
  • Implement and document standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and configuration records.
  • Support installation, upgrades, and maintenance of IT infrastructure components.
  • Act as the on-site IT point of contact while escalating issues to HQ when needed.
Your Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in IT operations, system administration, or technical support, ideally in fast-paced engineering, industrial, or mission-critical environments.
  • Experience working in remote or field-based locations is required.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Networking (Layer 2/3, routing, switching, Wi-Fi)
    • Server administration (Windows or Linux)
    • End-user support and device troubleshooting
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (Proxmox/VMware) is a plus.
  • Good understanding of IT security fundamentals.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to work independently while coordinating with remote HQ teams.
  • Willingness to support operational activities outside normal hours during launch campaigns.
  • Fluent English skills is a must
