Role Title: IT & Business Solutions Director

Salary: Excellent salary plus bonus and benefits

Location: Midlands with flexibility to travel nationally

Our client is seeking an experienced IT & Business Solutions Director who will play a pivotal role in enabling their growth ambitions. Working in close partnership with the executive team, you will act as a strategic bridge between business needs and technical capability.

You will identify, shape and deliver solutions that improve productivity, reduce cost-to-serve, enhance customer experience and support sustainable, profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and own a Business Solutions and Technology Enablement strategy aligned to our client’s growth, EBITDA, and productivity ambitions
  • Translate commercial and operational challenges into practical, technology-enabled solutions that deliver measurable financial and operational benefit.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to functional leaders (Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, HR, Finance, Commercial) on how technology and data can improve performance.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the business and the outsourced IT provider, ensuring alignment to business priorities, service quality, and value for money.
  • Ensure technology initiatives are business‑led, user‑centered, and outcomes‑focused rather than solution‑driven.
  • Lead the development of a strong data and analytics capability, enabling timely, accurate, and actionable insights.
  • Establish clear data governance, ownership, and accountability across the organisation.
  • Oversee the identification and implementation of automation opportunities across core processes (e.g. warehousing, transport, finance, HR, quality, compliance).
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste, manual effort, and operational friction.
  • Maintain sufficient technical awareness to provide effective oversight and challenge, without acting as a hands‑on IT delivery role.
  • Ensure outsourced IT services are robust, secure, compliant, and aligned with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Ensure systems and integrations support future growth, acquisitions, and increasing operational complexity.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Business Solutions team with a strong commercial and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ensure the team works effectively across functions, acting as internal consultants who partner with Operations, Commercial, Finance, HR, Quality, and IT.
Skills and Experience
  • Senior leadership experience in a commercially focused, transformation‑led role (e.g. Business Solutions, Digital Transformation, Operational Excellence, or similar).
  • Proven track record of using technology, data, and automation to drive efficiency, productivity, and EBITDA improvement in a complex, operational business.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to link operational improvement to financial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and delivering cross‑functional change.
  • Experience within logistics, supply chain and other regulated environments.
  • Experience implementing automation tools (e.g. RPA, workflow automation, system integrations).
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Continuous improvement or transformation qualifications (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Agile) desirable.
